The most effective tool of communication and translation will always be the visual image. Nothing permeates nor is as potent than an image whose purpose is to create a communal understanding.

Beginning my studies at the School of Visual Arts, in NYC, I was surrounded by a community that redesigned my understanding of the power of the visual image. I began to recognize that creating an image, at its core, is always about communication. Needless to say, I learned to never underestimate the capability of a stick figure.

After graduation, storyboarding became a perfect avenue into the bustling and flourishing world of NYC feature films. It was a “foot in the door” skill set that not only offered opportunities to storyboard  feature films, music video, and commercials. It also  created opportunities as a1st assistant director . An odd combination in many regards yet surprisingly, one skill set effortlessly extended  itself to the other.

Moving to Los Angeles offered an opportunity to shift into the world of branded commercial production. A engaging transition, that allowed the experiences and skills acquired in NYC to seamlessly carry over into a new chapter.  Opportunities to storyboard once again became the best avenue to begin working on a diverse array of commercials, be it an automotive spot (BMW, Toyota, Mercedes) cosmetics campaign (Sephora, Milani) or even that rare cat food commercial (Nutrish).

Whether it's a feature film, music video or commercial campaign, every production begins when certain substantial components are finally assembled and a green light is given. As locations are discovered, skilled professionals are hired, and the creative concept is refined, what once existed on paper evolves into a tangible reality. Suddenly, "Day #1" of the production has finally arrived and for a brief second, there is a satisfaction when you get to remember how all of this began as just a few typed words on paper and a some simple sketches.
